Today I wish to share a moment I had early this week. This morning I was reading in John 14, and there are times when reading God’s Word and one word will get ahold of me and this morning was one of those days. I found the word “manifest” and it began to stir within my spirit. I offer you three verses to bounce around in your spirit this morning. The word is found in the 21st verse, but I’m offering you 19 and 20 verses to setup the 31st verse. John 14:19-21:
“A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
The many meanings of the word are, “to cause to shine, thus to appear, come to view, reveal, exhibit make visible, present oneself to the sight of another and to be conspicuous.”
If we should stop and consider the meaning of the word used for “manifest,” it should make us stagger in amazement. In my less than effective manner, the Lord is saying to us; a man or woman who is “Born again” and walking the path that Jesus laid before us, should have the fullness of Christ life exposed to the entire world to see. A Christian who is satisfied with less may be convenient, but is too weak to be biblical.
You are loved, Pastor Don
