A few years ago there was a book that spoke on 1st Chronicles 4:10 and it came back to my mind today when the possibility of a new outreach could be in store. The verse states: “And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, ‘Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain?’ So God granted him what he requested.”
After reading the book, I was urged to pray for a larger territory to minister and the Lord gave us Eastern Africa, which was a surprise, since I expected a larger growth in this church. Today there is an opportunity for another expansion in the Detroit area with a church of around 600 people. As of this writing I have no more to share on the situation, but as it folds or opens, we will advise all of you.
Here is what we can learn from Jabez’s prayer – the Holy Spirit relates to us the prayer of one man which exposes the divine answer for all human difficulty and here is what we can find: 1) God longs to bless people who desire a life that prospers with the fullness of God – “Oh, that You would bless me.”; 2) God is read to fulfill people with a vision for a life that extends beyond the status quo – “and enlarge my territory”; 3) God is ready to empower all who invite His works and resources of power – “that Your hand would be with me”; 4) God will grant deliverance from physical and spiritual destruction to all who call – “keep me from evil.”
Today, we had at least six balls in the air at one time, but praise God, He was doing the juggling.
You are loved, Pastor Don
